In 1985 she moved her family to Phillipsburg, NJ, right above the Delaware River and across from Lehigh
Valley, PA. She became heavily involved with the Black Consciousness Community, the Arts Community,
teachers and groups of various faiths and traditions, including Buddhist, Bahai, Unitarian Universalist, Unity,
90's, Queen Mother discovered St.John's Church/Metaphysical Universal Ministries in Allentown, PA..
Through their school, she studied metaphysics, world religions, and healing 1999, Queen Mother Imakhu
Stewards Congregations.
During these years, Queen Mother Imakhu had become comfortable in her practice of Orisha tradition and
her relationship with Yemaya. However, Yemaya was drawing her attention back to The Source - Kemet.
Queen Mother felt as though she was being shoved out of the nest.
Through her metaphysical studies at Metaphysical Universal Ministries, Queen Mother had been introduced
to Egyptian Mysteries, and joined one of the mystery schools, but had difficulty connecting from the
European perspective. After seeing Dr.Yosef Ben-Jochannan the explain the Kemetic origins on the iconic
TV show, "Like It Is," Queen Mother Imakhu felt like she had finally come home.
Mwt Nswt Kai Imakhu Hekait-Urit Renit em Akeru is an ankh carrying Elder High Priestess through the
Shrine of Khpra in Brooklyn, NY, where, in 2005, she became one of the Queen Mothers under the
quardianship of Grandmaster Kham and GrandQueen Mut Ast. She is Queen Mother and co-founder of
AKERU Kemetic Temple of the True Living Waters.
Having recently survived a grueling, ten year Heqet initiation, Queen Mother Imakhu is now a Hekait-Urit
(Elder Wise Woman of the Kemetic Ntr-t Heqet), and Keeper of the Shen Urrit healing system. Queen
Mother Imakhu is also an initiated Bantu Healer through Baba Mandaza Kandemwa of Zimbabwe and
Michael Ortiz Hill, which brought the Ba-Anu energies back home to Kemetic traditions.
As a lifelong professional artist, Queen Mother Imakhu has always used art as an expression for her beliefs.
She was a liturgical dance soloist and choreographer, directed the Christian Praise Dance group, "Joyful
Praisers" (though she was a practicing another faith), had her own group called "Harmonic Essence," and
was a member of the Sacred Dance Guild. She now teaches and performs Tcheb Tcheb (Sacred Kemetic
Bellydance). Her vocal career reaches back to her church choir days as well. She now produces her own
Kemetic Motivational Music, and "Goddess Gospel." Theatre has also been a regular part of Queen
Mother's expression and teaching tools. At fourteen she wrote her first script for a church Christmas play
that she also directed and produced. Today she has AKERU Art N Soul Collective, a contemporary,
multigenerational ensemble sharing Kemetic culture in music, dance, spoken word, stories. Queen Mother
Imakhu is also creator of AKERU MultiMedia (formerly AKERU NuAfrakan Network), which produces her
popular NUBIA GODDESS RISING podcast, and ASHE! TV & Radio shows, and is a division of AKERU
Nu Afrakan Ministries. As a Peacemaker touring with her live performances, workshops, and CDs, Queen
Mother Imakhu has touched countless lives.
Internationally known as “Water Woman” veteran performer, dynamic lecturer, and master storyteller,
Queen Mother Imakhu has educated and entertained worldwide audiences throughout her thirty-six year
career as an artist/activist. She was a columnist for First World News, and PAINT Magazine, and involved
herself in numerous other community causes. Queen Mother Imakhu believes that truly spiritually awakened
people have a responsibility to get involved with the community and make change in the world.
Queen Mother Imakhu is deeply committed to the reclamation and teaching of the Afrakan origins of the
metaphysical tradition. She shares Nu Afrakan cultural info and success tips in her eBook, "The Cowrie
Blessings Book," and practical application of Kemetic spirituality in her ebook, UNDERSTANDING
KEMETIC (EGYPTIAN) MAGICK.
Queen Mother Imakhu is also seen in the new, innovative tarot deck, TAROT OF THE
BOROUGHS, where she portrays a contemporary Queen of Cups in six cards of the Minor Arcana.
As an Elder, Queen Mother Imakhu is working to heal Black families, restoring them through education,
family protocols, integration of the Arts, and overflowing fountains of Love. She currently teaches Kemetic
culture through art through AKERU Family Fellowship on Sundays in Brooklyn, NY at Serenity Space, 414
Marcus Garvey Bvd, 3 - 5 pm.
Mother and healing minister, twenty-six year metaphysician,
AKERU Temple of the True Living Waters. Always in
harmony with nature, the woods were her first cathedral.
But she came to know the world of formalized religion at a
young age.
Raised in the Baptist faith and active in her Kenilworth, NJ
home church, Queen Mother became a Born Again Christian
at as a teen, she joined Youth on the Move for Christ
Ministries with other NJ teens, including an emerging, then
unknown minister named Donald Hilliard, Jr. When a
STRONG'S EXHAUSTIVE CONCORDANCE was put in her
hands, Queen Mother's passionate quest for researching
word etymology, and historical/cultural truth began.
